An electric switchboard is fundamentally the unit which distributes electricity to the home.
It distributes mains power to different places around the home. Modern switchboards require safety switches which protect the building and the people within it.

The safety switch was made to shut down the switchboard in case there is a dangerous fault on a piece of equipment or light, but older switchboards may not have safety switches and may pose a fire hazard.

A safety switch will turn off power in 0.03 seconds following a change in the electric current is detected. Aged systems are much slower and may be dangerous to the users.

Each camera is wired individually back to the base, which can be installed in a study room, at your tv cabinet, or the top of a wardrobe/laundry cabinet.
Included in the installation is a new power point for the security main system.

The installer will wire, position and program the system with a password of your choice

If you wish to connect the cameras to the internet, that may require extra wiring to your modem.

You will need:
A monitor
USB computer mouse
Cameras and camera hub
Camera package

A rewire is a replacement and re installation of non-compliant electrical wiring and components. This is because electrical standards in the past were not safety oriented, this means older houses can be unsafe due to the materials the wire is made of, the process of installation used or simply the aging of these inferior plastics and impure copper wire.

The breakdown of these wires are a fire hazard due to “hot-spots” forming in the house wiring, the wires themselves may not be suited to the high level of electrical demand in Australian homes as these days, we use more electrical equipment than ever before. In accordance with electrical standards (AS300:2018) it is mandated that all electrical equipment must have an earth bond and safety switches.

What’s an earth? Safety switch??
Safety Switches and earth wires are like seatbelts and airbags in your car. For a very long time cars were produced and used without these safety devices causing many deaths, until the airbag and seatbelt were developed over time, at which point realising how many lives could have been saved they were mandated.

Just like an airbag, we hope you never have to use these safety devices, but they are designed to preserve life in case of an accident

Common wires which must be replaced are

  • Cotton covered aluminium cable
  • Black “Rubber” VIR Indian rubber cable
  • Degraded “bare earth” Copper power wires
  • Power wires containing no earth
